The last day of Waukesha JanBoree offers events starting at 8am and ending at 4pm. Highlights of Sunday include the JanBoree closing ceremony, sledding, the Wisconsin Trail Assail cross country ski/snowshoe/bike races and Alaskan Malamute Dog Pull at Minooka Park or nature adventures at Retzer Nature. Indoor skating and a planetarium show are available for inside activities.

“Space Dreams” Charles Horowitz Planetarium Show –  9am-3pm
Sit back and enjoy this astronomy show and learn how colors display their personalities at the Charles Horowitz Planetarium at Retzer Nature Center. See how scientists use the wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum to study the mysteries in deep space. Fun for the whole family! Shows are 45 minutes in length and will be shown every hour on the hour, starting at 9:00 am. Last show begins at 3:00 pm.

Friends of Retzer Nature Center Winter Adventures –  10am-4pm
Explore winter’s wonderland at Retzer Nature Center. Hike the trails on foot or snowshoes. Free snowshoe rentals. (regular price: $5.50 half-day, $9 full-day).

Children can participate in various activities and crafts.Specific activities to join while at Retzer include:

  1. Bird Feeding Program at 11:00 am & 1:15 pm
  2. Winter Tracking Program at noon & 2:30 pm

Alaskan Malamute Dog Pull – 11am-3:30pm
Stop by to see an official Alaskan Malamute Club of Wisconsin Dog Pull in Waukesha County’s Minooka Park – Picnic Area #2. This will be an open competition with dogs pulling up to 3,000 pounds on a wheeled cart! Snow is not needed for this event to occur.

Horse Drawn Wagon Ride – 11am-2pm
Enjoy a scenic horse-drawn wagon ride around Waukesha County’s Minooka Park.  This event is free and Minooka Park’s entrance fee will be waived on Sunday, January 17.

Arctic Avalanche – Noon-5pm
Featuring thrills on the 350 ft. lighted toboggan run at Lowell Park. If you need a place to warm up, there is a warming house and treats as well.

JanBoree Closing Ceremony – Texas Roadhouse Country Jam – 1:30-3:30pm
It’s a Country Jam with a DJ, cowboy hats, and more!  Wear your best boots and learn to line dance with the Texas Roadhouse Crew.  Line Dance Classes at 1:45 & 2:45 pm.  Participating kids receive a free kids meal.  Roadhouse famous rolls with cinnamon butter will be available for a nominal charge while supplies last and include a free appetizer coupon. This event will be held at the Schuetze Recreation Center.

Indoor Ice Skating – 3-5pm
Come ice skate at the “coolest” place in town – Waukesha County’s Naga-Waukee Park Ice Arena. Skate rental is available for $2.50/per pair if needed. Skate rental sizes are limited, so please bring your own if you can. For more information, please call Naga-Waukee Park Ice Arena at 262-646-7072.
