Art Events in August
Art is a big part of Waukesha Pewaukee. With many galleries, art spaces and events, you can easily spend a few hours or a day finding unique art pieces in our area. Or, create your very own one-of-a-kind art.
In August, there are two great local events that showcase art in our area. The first is the Waukesha Art Crawl on August 6 and the second is the Donna Lexa Community Art Fair on August 20.
Waukesha Art Crawl • August 6 • 4-10pm • No cost to attend
If you love art and strolling through local stores, the August 6 Waukesha Art Crawl is something you won’t want to miss! The August Art Crawl will be held from 4-10pm throughout Historic Downtown Waukesha. More than 20 art galleries and studios open their doors for you to find local one-of-a-kind art, jewelry, pottery and more.
The majority of businesses in downtown Waukesha are open during the Art Crawl and feature many food and drink specials. Many bars and restaurants feature live music for your listening enjoyment.
This is a family-friendly event with activities offered at the Waukesha Community Arts Project location on 320 South Street, including drawing games for all ages and ability levels, and the opportunity to weave on their room-sized loom.
A Stroke of Genius, Paint Wine Studio offers a special Art Crawl painting project so you can make your own masterpiece.
While you are checking out the Waukesha Art Crawl, consider taking a nice stroll along the Fox River to Frame Park and rent a paddle boat or bike from High Roller Fun Rentals (open until 8pm).
Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair • August 20 • 9am-4pm • No cost to attend
You cannot beat the setting of the Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair: right along the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail in Wales (just south of I-94 on Hwy 83). The Donna Lexa Art Fair is a juried fair for fine arts and fine art crafts. At the art fair you will find photography, paintings, pottery, glass, wood, jewelry, metal, mixed media, drawings and fiber art. Plus there is entertainment, a kids area and food.
Make a weekend getaway out of attending the art fair and check out these other events on August 20: Pewaukee Lake Antique Boat Show & Art Fair, Old World Wisconsin Heirloom Garden Weekend, Repticon Reptile Expo. Or one of these great locations, near the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail Lapham Peak the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Southern Unit, or Ten Chimneys (the National Historic Landmark home of Alfred Lunt & Lynn Fontanne.)
